  37. Ok - screamernet is needed only if you want to have a render farm (albeit,
  38. a small one with just a PC and an Amiga :-).  If all you want to
  39. do is render frames on the PC and have them appear on the Amiga,
  40. you don't need screamernet.  In fact, you don't lightwave on the Amiga
  41. at all.  You will need an ethernet card in both machines.  I have
  42. used (am using) both the Ariadne and the ASDG cards on the Amiga side.
  43. I think the PC side has a 3COM board in it - I know far less about the
  44. PC world, but I would think that just about any ethernet card would do
  45. for this application.

  47. For the software, (I'm using NT 3.51 on the PC side), I use Samba on the
  48. Amiga to make an Amiga drive visible to the PC.  Then, when running
  49. lightwave on the PC, I simply save rendered frames to the "samba'd" drive.
  50. You can get Samba from various Amiga ftp sites - I'm not sure if its
  51. available on Aminet.  If you're on the web, use a search engine on
  52. "amiga samba" and you should come find something.  Once you have samba
  53. set up on the Amiga side, use the "network sharing" facilities of
  54. NT to get your Pentium to see the Amiga drive.  When you go to
  55. "save rgb files" in lightwave, use the requester to select your networked
  56. drive.  Render away!

  59. mileage may vary :-)
